Specifications

The device comes in a stylish black box with all the necessary details on it so that you can make a first impression of the product. Inside is a no less stylish case, inside which the headphones themselves are located. Swivel ear pads immediately attract attention. This is good.

At the same time, the Edifier WH950NB also looks stylish: it would seem that these are just black headphones, but there are a number of small details that emphasize this Spartan beauty. Some budget is guessed only by artificial leather inserts (ear pads, headband), otherwise the headphones really look like a premium device.

Quite light (about 300 grams), Edifier WH950NB looks massive, but comfortable enough not to notice their presence on the head for several hours.

Included in the box are a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm headphone cord, and even an airplane adapter.

If you expected some additional options in the headphones in the form of, for example, automatic pause, Push to Talk (mute), then you will not find them here. And this is not surprising – the price category is still not the same. But for the money Edifier WH950NB really offer impressive functionality.

So, they boast active noise cancellation (ANC), and two levels: unwanted background noise, as well as wind noise (noise cancellation is just our respect). Three separate sound modes are available, including a game mode that reduces latency to 80ms, and a theater mode for virtual surround sound.

At the same time, Edifier WH950NB is equipped with four built-in microphones at once, which are also integrated with a sound processor, which automatically translates the device into a headset category. The sound is excellent, better than the vast majority of devices on the market. Still not for streaming or recording, but for communication – more than good.

There are also two sound control presets (classic and dynamic), a five-band equalizer that will make you feel like a sound engineer (without exaggeration), and, perhaps the main “feature” of the device, is a multipoint connection that allows you to connect headphones simultaneously to two gadgets.

The thing is extremely convenient and useful, especially if you work remotely. Moreover, due to Google Fast Pair technology, the headset supports quick Bluetooth pairing with Android devices. She (Fast Pair) will be useful if you like to forget where you left your smartphone or any other paired device.

Well, and, yes, do not forget that the Edifier WH950NB can also be used in wired mode in the same way – the bundled cable allows this.

You can (and should) play with the settings in detail in the proprietary Edifier Connect application (available for iPhone and Android). For example, here you can set a sleep timer so you don’t have to do it manually (useful if you like to listen to podcasts before bed), or set the volume limit to 85 dB.

With Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Wireless certified LDAC codec, the headset delivers high-quality, studio-quality sound. The frequency range is extended – from 20 Hz to 40 kHz. The sensitivity is 91 dB and the impedance is 32 ohms. The sound is clear, crisp, balanced and detailed.

To a large extent, this is facilitated by 40 mm drivers with a durable membrane made of composite titanium film.

For autonomy, a built-in 480 mAh battery is responsible, which, according to the creators, must withstand 34 hours of music playback with active noise reduction enabled or 55 hours without it. And the good news is that these statements are fully consistent with the real state of affairs.

Edifier WH950NB can be safely used in hiking mode without the risk of a dead battery at the most inopportune moment. In addition, there is a USB Type-C fast charging function, and just a ten-minute charge is enough to provide you with another 7 hours of battery life. A full charge takes plus or minus about 1.5 hours.

Many tried to do this (replace), but, of course, only a few succeeded. And Edifier WH950NB is one of them.

Stylish, multifunctional, ergonomic, these headphones (headset) are relatively inexpensive, especially if you look at “classmates” or even more expensive devices. At the same time, Edifier WH950NB is easy to take with you, and indeed to use in various scenarios. Gaming, by the way, is also quite considered.
