Gaijin Entertainment released a major update “The Age of Drones” for War Thunder. The update contains a lot of new vehicles, fresh locations and other additions.
Key Features “Age of Drones”:
A line of Chinese combat helicopters. On it you can trace the history of the helicopter industry in the country. First, local engineers adapted imported designs like the SA.342L Gazelle. The first attack helicopter built entirely in China was the Z-9WA. Then several more projects were launched – for example, the light strike-reconnaissance Z-11WA and the successful Z-19. And the heavy attack helicopter Z-10 was designed with the involvement of specialists from the Russian design bureau Kamov.
- Mirage 2000C-S5 is a new top jet fighter built in France. The French Air Force Mirage 2000 saw action in many conflicts in the 1990s, from the Gulf War to Allied operations in Afghanistan. The aircraft is also in service in Egypt, India, Greece, Qatar, Brazil, Peru and other countries.
- Su-25 is a Russian jet attack aircraft. Su-25s have made over 60,000 sorties in Afghanistan. The aircraft is in service in more than 20 countries around the world – from Azerbaijan to Ethiopia. AT War Thunder introduced the original, Soviet version of the machine and the export model – Su-25K.
Golden Bay is a new location for naval battles. The map was created based on the coastal relief of San Francisco. The ground part is inspired by the landscape of the areas east of the bay, where towns, green hills and mountains meet.
- Pradesh is a new location for ground and air battles. This area was created on the basis of the foothills of the Himalayas on the border of India and Pakistan. Grassy hills and wooded cliffs here coexist with water meadows and shrub plains.
- Procedurally generated shell-to-armor contact effects have been added to land and sea battles. The caliber and type of projectile are taken into account. Smoke and wisps of flame now escape from the holes. Tank explosion simulation has been improved, and road wheels can now fly off destroyed vehicles and interact with other objects on the battlefield.
High-quality models of shells and missiles are now used in the hit chamber and in the vehicle security analysis mode. So the player can better see exactly how his or enemy equipment was hit.
Plus, the update adds reconnaissance and combat drones (the Russian Orion, the Chinese Wing Loong 1 and the American MQ-1), six new Israeli modifications of the M48 and M60 tanks, the Turkish T129 ATAK helicopter and more to the online action.
