In his latest financial report Ubisoft announced the postponement of some upcoming releases: online pirate action Skull & Bones and “another big game,” which could be Star Wars: Outlaws. Both games are due out within the next year for PC (Ubisoft Connect), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Skull & Bones will also be coming to the Epic Games Store.

It is unlikely that the news about the transfer of Skull & Bones came as a surprise to anyone – the game has already changed its release date seven times. The last release was scheduled for April 2023, but now we are talking about January-March 2024. Ubisoft is trying hard to finish the project in order to avoid financial losses, as with Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023.

What is Skull & Bones all about? The game is planned as a spectacular simulator in the spirit of the Golden Age of Pirates. We have to take command of a ship and go to the Indian Ocean – away from the restless Caribbean Sea. There we will encounter colonial empires, powerful trading corporations and other ruthless pirates who have no intention of sharing the wealth.

As for Star Wars: Outlaws, everything is up in the air. The studio hasn’t confirmed in any way what exactly this project is meant by “another major game”, but there aren’t many options there either. 3DNews believesthat the game is too ambitious and could lead to its postponement to the next financial year (April 2024 – March 2025).
