“New Game Plus” is the latest part of the free add-on (DLC) for The Witcher 3, but some of you may not know how to use it. Indeed, in order to start New Game Plus while keeping your skills, gear, and non-quest related items, you need to follow a few steps. In our instructions, you can get a little confused. Luckily, we’ve detailed the necessary steps below, and hopefully you’ll be hunting monsters again in no time.
How to start playing “New Game Plus” in The Witcher 3
Step 1. Make sure your PlayStation 4 has the latest game update. You will need it to use the “New Game Plus” DLC, nothing will work without it.
If you are not sure if you have it installed, simply press the options button on the PS4 control panel for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and select “check for updates”, which will begin downloading the latest update if it is not installed.
Step 2 Visit the PlayStation Store and download the “New Game Plus” DLC. You can easily find it by visiting The Witcher 3 game page and clicking “settings”. A list of all available DLCs should appear, after which you need to select “New Game Plus” and click “Download”. Luckily, it’s pretty short, so it won’t take long.
Step 3: Launch The Witcher 3 and load the latest save. It should be after the end of the main story. After downloading, enter the options menu and save the game. This save file can now be used for the “New Game Plus” DLC.
Step 4: Return to the main menu of the game and select New Game. Select the difficulty level and in The Witcher 2, save as usual, and then the third option will appear. When asked if you want to start New Game Plus, choose Yes and then choose the save file you want to use.
The Witcher 3 “New Game Plus” – what’s left?
When you launch New Game Plus in The Witcher 3, the following things are carried over from your completed save file:
- Geralt level
- All the skills available to you
- All non-quest items, including potions, food, materials, ingredients, and recipes.
- All weapons and armor are in your inventory and stash.
Will the enemies be stronger?
Yes, in the DLC, the enemies are stronger. All enemies in the game will get a level boost based on Geralt’s level. The same goes for recommended levels for tasks.
Will the equipment be better?
Yes, the gear you find will be of a higher tier, so the gear from your old save will quickly become obsolete. It’s the same with the protagonist’s weapons and armor, which you can craft at much higher levels – but you’ll have to look up plans again.
