Recently released Return to Monkey Island – a new game in the cult series of quests, which was born back in 1990. Whether the sequel sells well is hard to say, but it has very high ratings from the press. Perhaps we are waiting for the revival of another adventure from LucasArts — Maniac Mansion.
The rights to Monkey Island are owned by Disney. One of the divisions of the company Lucasfilm Games. Executive producer Lucasfilm Craig Derrick (Craig Derrick) reacted to the release of new items in his twitter – he congratulated the studio Terrible Toyboxpublishing house Devolver Digital and herself Lucasfilm Games with the creation of a masterpiece that “will be passed, discussed, criticized and studied for many years.” Your message Derrick finished like this:
I’m sure more will be said over the coming weeks and months, but for now I’ll wait for the time to BACK TO THE MANSION!
The mention of the mansion is, apparently, a reference to an old quest Maniac Mansion (1987). In it, the user explores the titular building and solves puzzles while controlling several characters. One of the authors of the adventure was Ron Gilbert (Ron Gilbert), who later had a hand in the franchise Monkey Islandincluding the latest game.
Gilbert don’t mind brushing off the dust Maniac Mansion. In July, he outlined his vision for the remaster – the old setting and story, 50% new puzzles “and possibly a new playable character.”
About the announcement of a sequel or re-release Maniac Mansion no speech yet. However, a warm welcome Return to Monkey Island says that there is still a place under the sun for classic quests. In four days, “Return to Monkey Island” has collected 1.9 thousand reviews on Steam, with 94% of the reviews being positive. According to the players, this is a touching and funny adventure, and the controversial visual style does not spoil it.
