Perfect world is a legendary game and at one time perhaps a truly Asian answer to World of Warcraft. Back in 2008, when the game was released in Russia, it was a real breath of fresh air among the dominance of pirated servers and other massive Korean grinds.
Social opportunities alone.: marriage and everything else was a breakthrough for that time.
And now, 15 years later, Mail.ru, which distributes the game in the CIS countries, has launched the Sofa server, where each player can start the game from scratch and explore all the content that has been hot over the years.
Actually, this is exactly what I decided to do, and at the same time try to tell you how the legendary MMORPG is played at the very beginning of 2023.
Well, the first thing that meets us in any Asian MMORPG is the character’s appearance editor. Which I think is in big trouble right now. Because if you’re trying to create any human race and male character, you’ll still end up with some kind of semi-sweet BTS fan!
And this is not to mention the fact that the set of free hairstyles is rather scarce, and if you want something cool, then be kind enough to bring a donation to the Mail.ru office.
But in the end. I took a fairly standard Zoomorph tank and rushed into the game.
The first thing that spoiled my mood a little when I appeared, on the new server is one large, common location for all races and classes, but apparently, this has long been normal, although … when I last entered the game back in 2010, this was not yet seems.
And in general, the game began to look somehow too overloaded. Of course, I understand that now the X3 Rate system is working on the server, but it is quite difficult for the mind to cope with this abundance of quests, texts in them and crowds of new and not very players.
Everyone is running somewhere. Everything whistles, boils and flashes. The chat of the game is replete with some strange abbreviations, emoticons and abbreviations. And in general, the general fuss does not contribute to your immersion in the world of the game. Rather, you just rush from task to task, trying to gain a level as quickly as possible. From which the very game will actually begin.
By the way, this feeling that you have already got used to the game and understand it enough, which usually occurs in massively multiplayer online role-playing games somewhere after the 10-15th level, did not come here and on the 20th.
In general, over a couple of days off, I calmly scored 22 levels, but somehow I did it more automatically than with pleasure.
I really love PW, and the new server is certainly good, but it’s not very clear why it is needed? The servers of the Russian version of the game have been merged more than once and the opening of a new server is not a fact that will attract new players, since the game itself is very outdated.
And the point here is not even in the graphics and mechanics with autorun, not to mention the frankly old engine, but of course in the maximum dullness of the pumping process. And very few global activities.
This I’m not talking about the fact that, despite the large open world, you run through rather monotonous locations for a fairly large part of the classic content.
The game, of course, continues to be periodically updated, patched and improved, in general, the game is already morally outdated, and the player community consists of veterans who are not very eager to help newcomers. And the social mechanics, to be honest, will not surprise anyone now.
Yes, and those beginners are not particularly lured here because the game does not correspond too much to more or less modern standards.
As a result … we have before us a nostalgic game in which you can run in the evenings on your perhaps not the newest hardware, recalling your turbulent youth.
But personally, I’m waiting for the second part of this game, which will be called “Perfect New World”.
They promise better graphics and cooler mechanics, but apart from rumors about the game, we don’t really have anything. The game in China seems to have been announced back in 2018, and so far there has been silence.
