The ceremony took place on November 10 in London. Golden Joystick Awards 2023during which anyone could vote for the best games of the year on the site GamesRadar. The event was hosted by Troy Baker, an American voice actor and the official voice of Joel from The Last of Us. And the absolute winner of the ceremony was Baldur’s Gate III, which received awards in six categories and became Game of the Year.
Final Fantasy XVI and actor Ben Starr, whose biography also includes a role in the historical series Jamestown, won in the “Best Leading Actor” category. And the award for “best supporting actor” was taken by Baldur’s Gate III for the role of Astarion, played by Neil Newbon.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty won in two categories: “Best Add-on” and “Best Trailer.” Turn-based RPG Sea of Stars took home the award for Best Indie Game, while Mortal Kombat 1 beat out Diablo IV and Street Fighter 6 for Best Multiplayer Game.
As we mentioned earlier, the titles of game of the year and best game for PC deservedly went to Baldur’s Gate III, and the best games for Switch, PlayStation and Xbox were The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Resident Evil 4 and Starfield, respectively. And finally: the title of “Best Hardware” was taken by a new VR headset for PlayStation, Final Fantasy XVI won in the “Best Sound” category, “Best Support” went to No Man’s Sky, and the authors of Baldur’s Gate III, Larian Studios, became the leaders of the studios of the year.
