Developers Remnants II decided to make a huge bet on procedural generation. In the new video, developers demonstrate footage of the gameplay, and David Adams (David Adams), CEO Gunfire Gamesexplains his desire to create a game based on random events.
According to the developer, even the main plot of the game will be procedurally generated. Each time the player enters a new area, one of the options for the main narrative line is selected. Further, the boss, dungeons and “above-ground” locations are also generated.
Adams clarified that the developers did not use neural networks for creativity. All story sequences are created by them and written by hand. But the procedural generation algorithm allows you to shuffle a lot of variables, which leads to a unique experience for each player from the first hours of passage. Remnants II hasn’t received a release date yet. The game is expected to be released in 2023 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Declared support for the Russian language.
