The Korean company WeMade showed the gameplay of its new MMORPG Legend of Ymir, which will take us to a fantasy world with an emphasis on a Scandinavian setting. The game has not yet received an exact release date, but is planned for sometime in 2024. The new product will be released immediately for PC, iOS and Android – in the best traditions of Korean MMOs. Unreal Engine 5, Lumen, Nanite, MetaHuman, DLSS 3 and ray tracing technologies are included.

As part of the five-minute trailer, we were shown many locations, characters and weapons in the style of Scandinavian mythology. If it weren’t for the strange and jarring animations, it might even seem like a Korean sequel to God of War. But the most surprising aspect comes not from the setting, but from the use of QuickTime event mechanics within the MMO. I wonder how it will look in the game itself.

As far as we know, the plot of the MMORPG will tell us about the events preceding Ragnarok – a large-scale “event” with the end of the world and the destruction of the world, which takes place every 9 thousand years on the continent of Ymir. We will go on an adventure to stop him and prevent all living things from plunging into flames again.
