Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders tells the story of Zach McCracken. Events unfold in an alternative 1997. The guy is a journalist. A reporter for the yellow paper The National Inquisitor dreams of earning a Pulitzer Prize and is actively looking for a suitable storyline for the award.

One day he sees a nightmare. Waking up, Zach takes him for a prophetic dream and decides to test one strange theory. A media worker begins to find out if people are really getting dumber thanks to the tricks of aliens, supposedly using phones for this purpose. Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders has a humorous and sometimes insane story that plays with various versions of global conspiracies.

The game itself is a classic old school quest. It has a camera on the side. At the very bottom of the screen is a very extensive list of commands. There is no “smart” cursor here. Therefore, in order to touch, take or put, use, push, read, open or close an object, you need to select the appropriate action in the list and click on it. But there is no order to “talk” in it.
