Plot Nightmare Creatures was based on gothic horror stories of the 19th century. The action begins in the middle of the 17th century and tells about the cult of the Brotherhood of Hecate, which worshiped the devil and conducted sinister experiments in London. They tried to take the city under their control, and then capture the entire planet. Members of the cult developed an elixir that was supposed to endow all those who drank with inhuman abilities.

After the experimental drink was ready, everyone who drank it turned into monsters. These creatures were later called nightmarish creatures. They were used as an army, but one fighter named Samuel set fire to the headquarters of the commanders-in-chief, which caused the First Great Fire in the city. The player finds himself in 1834, when several horrific crimes took place in London.

The protagonist learns that many people have watched the moving monsters, and the dead have woken up and are among the living. Villain Adam Crowley decided to prepare his plan to capture and resorted to the help of the brotherhood. In the gameplay, the user takes control of two characters: Nadia and Ignatius. It is necessary to perform successive levels in which the gamer will face various enemies. For weapons, the ward is able to use mines, pistols, explosive bombs, and magic spells.
