Citizens of Earth is a quality satire of retro games and modern politics that will definitely make you have fun. The story of an ignorant vice president and his equally clumsy voters who save the earth from evil.

Structurally, this is a traditional Japanese-style role-playing area. You roam towns, cities, forests, beaches and beyond, ransacking houses, talking to locals, and engaging in combat with thugs and hostile flora and fauna, looking for new characters to add to your team. But in keeping with its theme of exaggeration and politicking, there are dozens of such characters to bring into play: bakers, baristas, teachers, cops, mechanics, firefighters, IT support staff, and so on. Almost every NPC you meet has a “recruit” dialogue option, and if you convince them to join, everyone can be included in your three-man combat team.

Much of the fun of the game comes not from combat or dialogue, but from the ridiculous tasks that certain characters put in front of you. Not all of them are simple search tasks. In one case, you must let your local therapist put you into a dream state in which you will face some of your childhood demons. On the other hand, you have to beat a used car dealer in a five lap race around the city using one of his cars.
