Alwa’s Awakening is a metroidvania with 2D pixel art and a side view. Indie project stylized as eight-bit games. We manage a girl named Zoya. She is armed with a magical staff, with which she fights monsters and solves riddles. According to the plot, she needs to save the fantasy world from evil forces.

The female protagonist can run, jump, shoot projectiles, fight in close combat, climb ladders, communicate with NPCs. Periodically, she finds upgrades in closed rooms or receives them as a reward for defeating bosses. Skills allow her to get into new zones. In Alwa’s Awakening, the heroine will learn how to create green cubes and move them, conjure flying air bubbles used instead of platforms, and stuff like that. Such spells make it possible to activate switches at long distances, escape from spikes, block enemy projectiles, and climb high ledges.

The game has a partially open world, consisting of 400 unique rooms. You can go to almost any part of it and explore it until the character stumbles upon an impassable obstacle. Then you have to look for a workaround or find an ability that will allow you to move forward. There is a map to help you navigate the interconnected locations. You can save progress at special bonfires.
