Cyberpunk 2077 is the most long-suffering triple-A project of recent years, which took two whole years to really reach release. Because let’s be honest… Everything that was released before patch 2.0 and the Phantom Freedom add-on was frankly unplayable and simply not stable.
But I already feel like many people have said to themselves that they already know all this… but first of all I would like to share with you so to speak, a beginner’s first experience. Because, that until recently I could only dream of immersing myself in the world of the game and experiencing it for myself.
But just the other day I dived into the world of cyberpunk and spent 24 hours in it quite well.
In this article, I will share with you my feelings about the game and even try to answer the question of who and why should buy the game during these New Year sales on Steam.
Let’s start with perhaps the most important thing that confused me. The game is frankly not very player friendly. For example, I was always confused between pressing and holding the F button. And in the heat of battle, to be honest, this begins to distract. Not to mention the fact that you are not taught how to trivially pick up your first pistol during virtual training. But… okay, let’s skip my first blunders and move on to more important points.
But this is the best part of the game. I really liked the leveling system, in the spirit of Skyrim, when you level up those skills that you constantly use and it’s cool!
In general, the building design in the game is quite pleasant. Sit, think, dig deeper, and here again the point comes up that if you want a good, truly working character build, then go to the Internet and search in a search engine for a query that matches your playing style. Fortunately, there are more than enough builds on the Internet.
And honestly, I’ll tell you that for me personally, I really like collecting various colored guns and other things. So, a certain inclination of games towards looter – shooter makes me happy.
But I have questions about customizing the character’s appearance.
How is it that in a world where there is a crazy character editor in the spirit of Korean massively multiplayer online role-playing games, it was impossible to fail a cool character editor for a game that claims to be a super popular game.
Perhaps the most controversial part of the entire game. On the one hand, the whole world, Cyberpunk 2077 simply breathes with references to “Blade Runner”, “Altered Carbon” and even the legendary “Neuromancer”. So, all true fans of the Cyberpunk genre should be able to feel the atmosphere.
In principle, running around the world and completing various side quests is quite interesting. And in general, the process of vacuuming the world may well drag on.
But as far as plot and plot-related moments and tasks are concerned, there are questions about this! By the middle of the game, so many quests are poured into your log that you simply don’t know where to run and what to grab onto. But with all this, as soon as you close one or another plot-related quest from your journal, they seem to poke your nose into the main quest, which you seem to have to complete.
And here, in fact, the concept will emerge that the game is actually quite linear and in fact you are only allowed to choose the path that you will take to the goal, BUT during the course of the game you will definitely not have such a situation that, working with Takemura from Arasaka you will no longer have the opportunity to come to the Afterlife and work with Johnny and Bestia. No way! Something more or less similar to the choice you will be given to make only towards the end of the game. Frankly, choose one of several endings, although… And if you wish, you can watch them all in one playthrough.
But in general… Due to the abundance of lines in the dialogues and the differences in leveling, you will be able to play yourself or any other role! But one way or another, you will be able to complete ALL possible tasks in the game, reaching one of the endings. But this makes me a little sad… I would like to feel the greater importance of making my decisions on the world of the game and the final result.
Perhaps the truly variable solutions include the personal quests of Judy and Panam Palmer. Because their quests at least influence whether they will have a romantic relationship with the main character and whether they will help him in the finale. Unless, of course, you have the Phantom Liberty add-on, and you decide to follow its plot in search of a unique ending.
The plot itself can completely absorb the player for more than a dozen hours. Personally, at the time of writing this article, I have already spent more than 40 hours in the game. And I’m still wondering where my plot decisions will lead me in the end.
Well, let’s finally talk about the main addition for Cyberpunk 2077, which, in fact, changed everything.
A new storyline will open after completing the main quest “The Human Factor”, in which you meet Mama Brigitte from the Voodoo gang. Jay will contact you.
The story of “Phantom Freedom” is quite bombastic and revolves around the rescue of Rosalind Myers, President of the New United States of America after her space plane is shot down by a missile and crash lands in Dogtown.
Dogtown is a completely new location located in the southern part of Night City, where all the most important events of Phantom Liberty take place.
The plot of the new DLC is quite similar to a small game. And if the main game is most similar in its atmosphere to a noir thriller, then the addition in its atmosphere is more likely to give off the atmosphere of a good spy action movie.
As for me, Edris Elba fit perfectly into the world of cyberpunk and played his role well. His character turned out just perfect. Such a typical ex-military and too old for all this bullshit special intelligence agent.
And yes, I managed to discover that very new story ending for the entire main plot of Cyberpunk 2077. Personally, I was very pleased with it.
Now we can safely say that Cyberpunk 2077 has become a full-fledged big game, on which you are not ashamed to spend money and, for example, give yourself a gift for the New Year.
BUT I’ll say right away that there’s simply no point in buying the base game without the expansion. The DLC not only adds content, with new implants, quests, clothes and other things, but also launches a full-fledged new storyline that can dramatically change your perception of the game.
But to be honest, I’ll tell you that Cyberpunk 2077 turned out to be too big a game for me. As a result, it took me 46.6 hours to complete the game, reaching the new ending!
I’m not ready to go through the game again in the near future, because games that take me more than 20 hours to complete tire me out, BUT I definitely advise you to try the game! Now this is a truly large and stable work of art with an excellent plot. It is clear that the scriptwriters did not eat their bread in vain.
